A traditional authentic Italian restaurant in the heart of Birmingham's main entertainment area, offering a simple reasonably priced two or three course trattoria menu with a choice of two rustic wines, and the more sophisticated a la carte menu.

I never fail to marvel at the ability of Italian cuisine to produce a list of dishes that for sheer scale takes some matching. Whilst commendably diverse DV's list is briefer than many, but just as appealing.

It is also encouraging to see Italian cooking, which is steeped in tradition, taking steps into modern preparation of well-loved dishes, largely a question of technique. Are we looking forward to a cuisine entry of "Modern Italian" I wonder?

DV lay claim to being the only flambé in Birmingham, and who am I to dispute that? But I can tell you that their filetto di manzo, beef fillet tournedos with green peppercorn sauce would stand up well to competition, as would the flambé traditional dessert of zabaione.
